Actually, thats a good point. ALthough I have no idea if the Chines government even cares, it would not be hard to slip a little code in there that could even turn on the camera!
I think it would be in everyone best interest if there were some way to verify the OS build you are installing. It also means that the concept of locking phones so that you can't do anything to them may be obsolete.
