Almost true; but even if it were true, that is not good enough. Sample code does not have to be finalize, robust, professional code, but since it IS the example the company is holding out as a good example of how to code something, it really should not be as bad as Lunar Lander is.
That is, there are certain things you can leave to the implementer of the professional version, and there are certain things that even the author of the sample code must get right: Lunar lander did not get the latter right. They really should either fix it or remove it -- it really is that bad!
