Please have a look at the documents listed in http://community.kde.org/Amarok/Development, there is really enough documentation about the architecture of Amarok. To search for specific parts in the amarok code I suggest you install the tool called "ack-grep", it is really useful to find code snippets and strings. Also please submit your suggestions to reviewboard, those should go there, even in an early stage.
