And that's what I did and it shows the problem pretty clearly:
xfsrestore is segfaulting.  In fact, xfsrestore segfaults trying to
restore any of the backups of this filesystem.  And looking at my system
logs, xfsrestore has segfaulted once a day at the same time just after
my backup run starts.  The XFS folks are looking into it.

So the really big question is, why this:

If the index creator exits nonzero, or worse segfaults, then shouldn't
Amanda take note of that somehow?  Even just saving the stderr somewhere
would have been useful.
