I'm thinking of systems, like laptops, that are booted irregularly and are unlikely to be running during the normal backup time period.
It may be something like the client hitting a port on the amanda server saying "I'm up now, back me up to the holding disk". The topic comes up regularly, has there been a mechanism developed?
