ah, I seem to have found it, although I don't know how it came to this:
I now get:
slot 0:8: volume 'vtape-005-008' does not match labelstr 'vtape-[0-9]*'
all slots have been loaded
Taper scan algorithm did not find an acceptable volume.
(expecting a new volume)
ERROR: No acceptable volumes found
This comes up only with the "traditional" tapescan, btw
Maybe these vtapes got labelled *before* changing the config to the
latest? Something around "autolabel", I assume?
I work around this by editing "labelstr" to be more generous.
