I'd like to address the individual mono or paired stereo channels on my
ADAT breakout boxes individually, using just ALSA and no jack.
starting jack yields
system:playback_1
through
system:playback_24
and
mplayer -ao jack:system:playback_1,system:playback_2 some.mp3
would play my stereo mp3 file on the first two outputs, 1 for left, 2 for
right.

card, and I don't even get output from it. As said above, starting jack and
using that works (once the volume is set).

I think there must be some asoundrc hackery that yields either 12 stereo
pairs or 24 mono channels.

Thanks,
Christian.
