I've tried to search for information about the Linux compatibility of the current versions of the following devices: - Apogee Mini-DAC Firewire - Benchmark DAC1
Neither manufacturer is mentioned in the ALSA SoundCard Matrix. The USB version of Mini-DAC was mentioned on the linux-audio-user mailing list in 2005: http://www.linuxaudio.org/mailarchive/lau/2005/6/12/114977 The DAC1 was mentioned in 2007: http://www.linuxaudio.org/mailarchive/lau/2007/1/15/132940 Both replies are encouraging, but there isn't enough convincing information about compatibility and possible issues for buying either one of the products.
