openSUSE 10.3 is a bit old. Can you upgrade to a more recent version
and retest? I believe MIDI for PHASE 22 and PHASE 28 was fixed later.
I'm not sure about PHASE 28, but I know this:
1. There was a big rework of ICE1724 MIDI at some point in ALSA, it
can be found in changelog. Prior to that, sending anything to MIDI
would hang the machine.
2. Even after that fix, MIDI was disabled on PHASE 22, so in my case
"aplaymidi -l" didn't list anything. It was enabled later.
