In some sound card chipsets, there is a feature called "jack retasking". This allows for using mic/line inputs as outputs for surround sound. This is useful on boards that don't have enough jack outputs on the back (like my mythtv box). Speaking of which... what chipset do you have... because I have been wanting to retask some of mine for rear speaker output. Thanks, - Jim C.
