Hmm, I don't think this is the direction to search for the problem. ACPI is OK nowadays. What is your hardware (motherboard)? Does it have pci express and is it using MSI (message signaled interrupts). This is the only hardware-related issue I can think of at the moment. Another question: does *playing* work? In that case I think you can safely assume that there are no hardware issues.
