I installed fedora 7 so I'd have the kernel and alsa I need for the EMU
1212M PCI soundcard. I installed the card. I tried opening alsa mixer to
see if the soundcard is recognized and got:
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device
I went into the BIOS to make sure the onboard soundcard is disabled. I
don't see anything that looks like the old soundcard (or the new one):
Onboard Devices>parallel irq 7
>serial irq 4
>serial irq 3
>diskette irq 6
PCI Devices>VGA ctrlr irq 5
>IDE ctrlr Enabled
>USB ctrlr irq 11
>eth ctrlr irq 5
>Creative Labs device irq 10
>Creative Labs 1394 ctrlr irq 11
Seems I'm sharing IRQs between devices. Or am I way off base where I'm
looking for trouble? Am I wrong in thinking that alsamixer would see my
card as the kernel and alsa versions are sufficient for it?
Chris
