I think Ubuntu uses apt, so I'm not sure of the command. It should be something like apt-get remove alsa*. Do a man apt-get to look at the options. After alsa is removed, be sure there are no asound.state and asound.conf files in /etc and no .asoundrc file in ~ (your home directory). To see . files you have to explicitly provide the dot ls .* Then install the latest alsa version from the repositories using apt-get again (should be 1.0.14.rc3 or 4). Reboot your system so it can rediscover the sound card using the new alsa. There are other ways to do this, but I think this is more straightforward than those. If this doesn't work (and it might not), post again and I'll try to help you further. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
