Lee, Progress. I rebuilt and reinstalled modules, then modprobe loaded snd-intel8x0. Ran alfaconf; it found the card, did its thing, and told me ALSA was ready for use. But, I cannot load aumix and alsamixer shows nothing but the header in the upper left corner and a small, empty box in center bottom.
