This is weird. With the preempt kernel, I get an xrun every time I start reading the ac3 stream on sata disk. Not other I/O on the sata device: Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: ALSA sound/core/pcm_lib.c:138: XRUN: pcmC0D2p Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: <f0a613a1> snd_pcm_update_hw_ptr+0x186/0x1b9 [$ Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: <b0118ea4> __wake_up+0x2a/0x3d <f0a621ad> snd$ Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: <f0a62c04> snd_pcm_lib_write_transfer+0x0/0xad$ Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: <b01f8397> tty_write+0x1c7/0x1d8 <f0a5fa75> s$ Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: <b0164a60> do_ioctl+0x1c/0x5d <b0164cf3> vfs_$ Sep 24 20:50:10 gandalf kernel: <b0164d4d> sys_ioctl+0x48/0x5f <b0102bc3> sys$ Then, once I start the md5sum on the sata device, I get a few xrun every now and then, while my amp has *constant* pb with the ac3 stream: Sep 24 20:55:08 gandalf kernel: <f0a623ce> snd_pcm_period_elapsed+0x217/0x2a9 [snd_pcm] <f0b2a2d9> snd_emu10k1_fx8010_interrupt+0x37/0x57 [snd_emu10k1] Sep 24 20:55:08 gandalf kernel: <f0b23e42> snd_emu10k1_interrupt+0x2b6/0x3b0 [snd_emu10k1] <b013ba56> handle_IRQ_event+0x23/0x4c Sep 24 20:55:08 gandalf kernel: <b013bb0c> __do_IRQ+0x8d/0xdd <b0105145> do_IRQ+0x19/0x24 Sep 24 20:55:08 gandalf kernel: <b010366e> common_interrupt+0x1a/0x20 Anyway, I'm going to write a message to lklm.
