The perennial questions:  which version of alsa are you using, which
model laptop, and what does "head -n 8 /proc/asound/Intel/codec#0"
output?

Some dells have a (ahem) subwoofer on the bottom that can improve the
sound they produce quite a bit.  They don't produce /great/ sound, but
it is a lot better.  Now I just need to submit the patch that actually
lets it work for sigmatel codecs....
