I have 2 sound cards - an audigy and a sound blaster 16. I have set up alsa and programs to use the cards just fine, but a problem occurs if I need to reboot when sometimes the cards will be swapped - ie card 0 will now be card 1 and vice versa. Usually turning off the power when rebooting or shutting down will put things right but I'd much rather be able to reboot normally.
Is there any way of forcing which card gets assigned a card number? I thought maybe editing /etc/modules.conf would help but it seems to be empty. I'm using Slackware 11 rc1, 2.6.15 kernel and alsa-driver-1.0.11rc5 -- American business long ago gave up on demanding that prospective employees be honest and hardworking. It has even stopped hoping for employees who are educated enough that they can tell the difference between the men's room and the women's room without having little pictures on the doors. -- Dave Barry, "Urine Trouble, Mister" ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
