I think at this must be the consequence of some kind of cpu usage
throtteling, and it will be interesting to know more about that, how
its work and how it can be setup.

It is on 2 threads on the jacklab forum, one say " if some program gets
its CPU load past due 90% it will kicked off without regret.", and the
other say 99%.

I observe this on my box with pam-rlimits.
