Hy, have your read the details section on the alsa-project homepage about your soundcard? check the lower part, maybe you need to set some option to activate the livedrive port. you may also try to cat /dev/yourmididevice and see if any mididevice gives an output if you play a note. also, you may check if your alsa if inside your kernel, has midi stuff enabled, and if in module form, the corresponding modules are loaded. it worked fine with my sb 2 zs plpro, but i have no mididevice myself to test this again. though i just tried it through jack. mfg sonicx
