Thanks for the reply..
 
for the command, I get the following:
 
 /sbin/modprobe snd-dummy
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-dummy
 
Also, I was hoping to simply load the module seperately instead of having to install the entire alsa.

Does "modprobe snd-dummy" work?

Did you select it when you compiled ALSA?
