In follow up, using jack_connect to connect the outputs to each alsa_pcm:playback_x given in jack_lsp also does not give an output on the IEC958 (i had hoped connecting them using JACK to outputs 9 and 10 would produce results). I used iecset (which i found while browsing the alsa-utils source) i've checked the format which seems alright, i now just need to know how to use amixer to turn on / unmute the IEC958?

Thanks again

Andrew

Subject: [Alsa-user] Envy24 IEC958

Hello all,

I'm sorry if this information is elsewhere but i can't seem to track down simple instructions for turning on the IEC958 output on an M-Audio 24/96 card. I've created a very minimal system and as yet haven't needed an asound configuration file. I'm using JACK and connecting to alsa_pcm:playback_1 and playback_2 which are my analogue outputs. What i'd like to do is patch the IEC958 output to the same source (i believe i can do this on the card?), but i can't find the right amixer commands to do this.

What i was after is an amixer command to turn on the IEC958 output and connect it to the same source as the analogue outs.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Andrew
