Hi, I have an ALC880 card (snd_hda_intel) with the digital out connected to an external amplifier. and have a clean ubuntu dapper installation The sound works fine for whatever stereo sources ogg, mp3 but as soon as I try to listen to ac3 passthrough then I get a device busy error
for example : aplay toto.wav works fine gxine toto.wav works fine gxine test.ac3 gives a "device busy" error totem-xine gives a "device busy" message ( totem and gxine are setup to use pasthrough ) gxine toto.vob -A oss sends a good Dolby D signal to the amplifier. ac3dec test.ac3 -C -D hw:0,0 sends a good Dolby D signal to the amplifier but ac3dec test.ac3 -C -D hw:0,2 send garbage to to the ampli (o,2 is the digital out ) nothing else is using the device and I removed all asoundrc. Any advice on how I could debug that ? Another strange thing I have is that aplay toto.wav -D hw:0,0 sounds good aplay toto.wav -D hw:0,2 gives a very horrible background sound. adding a format S32_LE helps somewhat, I tried different rates 48000 44100 but it did not help Any idea ?
