Hi, been tweaking a little:

XMMS not working is *probably* due to the 24bit
conversion requirement for the Alesis. XMMS still
works if I specify the emu10k1 as the output device. I
assume this because if I explicitly specify the USB
box to aplay with the -D option then I get this error:
"aplay: set_params:882: Sample format non available"
Which I assume means "This card only does 24 bit!".
The odd part is if I don't specify a card then aplayer
plays just file through the USB box by default.
