Please see the following post in Alsa-devel. It contains a patch for having the remote control working at alsa level. For LIRC the rm1500 provided with lirc doesn't work (for me), i have to define a new remote control with iirecord. I tested it yesterday (same model) with some buttons. It works. so i post the lirc.conf in the same post. .
