Thank you for the reply. I made aplay the player and tried to play a .wav file. Nothing. There's no sound from anything - system notifications, kalarm, anything. I have an alsa driver working well on an older computer but the driver there was part of the alsa files installed with Mandriva 2005. ???????????? Regards.
