I'm connecting my on-board sound card through a coaxial cable to my receiver
and then pass analog audio signal from my receiver to the TV. When playing
music (or TV through MythTV) I get the sound fine through the TV speakers but I
get no sound through the speakers connected directly to the receiver! The
receiver incidates that it gets a PCM stream (which passes on as analog audio
to the TV). When I pass an AC3 stream through the sound card, I do get sound
from the receiver speakers as expected. I'm pretty sure that music and TV was
playing fine through the speakers as well at some point (i don't use those all
the time) and I suspect that it stopped after one of the (kernel) upgrades. One
more interesting fact is that when playing with alsamixer, I get sound from the
speakers as well occasionaly when I unmute IEC958 but only for a second or so.
Any idea as to what could be wrong?
