Hi, as Jack is no option for multi-user environments (already tried rerouting with jack-plugin), I'm stuck with alsa only.
On top of the alsa driver I use dmix/dsnoop. For a flawless playback (e.g. video) I need a buffer_size of 32768, causing latencies between 500 and 1000 ms. So for Midi, I need a buffer_size of less than 4096. Is there any way to put two plugs on top of dmix each having a different buffer size (and having "buffer_size 0" in dmix itself)? How do I determine the best periods size for my soundcard (Terratec Aureon 5.1 MKII USB). Which other options can I tune to decrease latency?
