Indeed it does... Started jackd without real-time in verbose mode. It 
started reporting times... Then I logged in under X, which caused a SCSI 
driver to load (aic7xxx), at which time jackd reported some overruns. No, 
it was not always loaded when I was seeing problems. Then I started 
"find...". First jackd stopped. It just didn't produce any more output. I 
switched to another vt, wanted to log in, started typing my username, and 
then the whole system frose. No keyboard, no ping, no sysrq, nmi-watchdog 
didn't trigger (well, I don't think, it works on this system). Only hard 
reboot. Weird...

Just checked recording with nice -n -20 arecord... on another system (2 x 
P2/400MHz, 128MB RAM) under load - no overruns even without realtime. Is 
it VIA?... What does it usually mean, when a system freeses gradually?
