Greetings list,

With alsa 1.0.10, I can get sound from both my speakers and
headphones, although the speakers are not muted when I insert my
headpones. But with 1.0.11rc3, I get no sound from either speakers or
headphones. None of the available controls or switches in alsamixer
turns on any sound. The same problem exists in the CVS version as of
today.

My system is a Dell Inspiron E1705 with a sigmatel codec, although I
am not sure which one. Alsamixer shows a STAC9200, but I suspect it
is really something else based on BUG#1813.

My questions are:

1. I'm going to start comparing and reverting changes to see what
broke, but does anyone have any quick ideas of what the change was
that broke the audio on my system?

2. How can I identify exactly what codec chip is installed? lspci -vv reports:
