i have the same chipset (identical lspci output), in an Asus Z33a notebook. i'm running Ubuntu ("breezy badger") with a 2.6.12-10-386 kernel -- this is a stock ubuntu kernel, not a custom build. the alsa version that comes with "breezy" (1.0.9a) did not work -- silence. i built alsa-driver version 1.0.11rc1, and replaced the stock modules with the ones i built. i did not replace any user-level programs or libraries. sound seems to work just fine. if i can send you any more info, config output, etc, let me know -- but i warn you, i'm just a user, and this was the first time i've used alsa. paul =--------------------- paul fox, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (arlington, ma, where it's 36.3 degrees) ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
