Hello and a very happy new year to you all, I posted this (or something similar) a while back and had no reply, so I'm trying again in case someone new spots it.
Trying to route all sound to the spdif output of my onboard nForce4 (NVidia CK804 │ │ Chip: Realtek ALC850 rev 0 ) Debian Sid Alsa 1.0.10 Kernel 2.6.14 I've been following trhe digital sound howto for MythTV ( http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/DigitalSoundHowTo ) When I did this before (around the summer, can't remember which kernel and alsa version I was running then) everything worked as expected, I could set up mixed and unmixed devices and convert rates in ~/.asoundrc, and route sound to the correct device from aplay using -D or from MythTV/Mplayer/xine. This time I get no output from the digital devices, although I can hear clicking when I move the controls for IEC958 in alsamixer. If I choose an analog device the main volume control controls the sound from the analog outputs and I also get a signal from spdif out as long as IEC958 = [PCM] and IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA = 0. There must be a setting for the dmix plugin which is preventing my .asoundrc from controlling the devices correctly, although the .asoundrc file is clearly being parsed as I can choose the device names as defined there without errors. Any clues as to how I can find out what's going on? Cheers Marius ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
