Hello, I was wondering if you guys could help me,
I have a ens1371 onboard sound system which works with KDE, XMMS ect. although there is no /dev/dsp or /dev/mixer is seems it's all in /dev/snd/ and the names arn't recognisable as dsp's or mixers ect. I fear this is gentoo's doing or kernel 2.6 somthing or others. I've messed around with the modules.conf, modprobe.conf ect with no luck I'm now thinking that this is just the way it is since it works. my real problem with is why the above note is made is because I have a bt878 sound system which is apart of my TV capture card. I can see video with xawtv and I can alsamixer the second sound device part (alsamixer -c 1) but alas no sound. it apears that this bt878 isn't one of the many with physical outputs (Modular Tech varity MM201PCTV) instead from what I gather the sound comes from the pci bus or somthing. but I have no idea how to connect up the capture commming in from one device to the output on the other device. System stats: Gentoo Linux: 1.4.3.13 Kernel 2.6.5 alsa-driver 1.0.3 alsa-lib 1.0.3b-r2 alsa-util 1.0.3 Thanks in advance for you help, and I think you guys ar doing a stand up job making linux what it is today.
