Luke,

have no experience with Maya44. But if it is USB compliant,
snd-usb-audio driver should have no problems handling it.

As for iMic which is also a USB card, it works very well for me. 

One thing that is still puzzling to me is how to record from 
USB and monitor recording through another soundcard.
