I have a compaq presario R3000 laptop. It has an Ati IXP 150 based sound card (SoundMAX ?).
I tried to compile both in kernel and as module, the atiixp driver in kernels 2.6.5 2.6.6-rc1 and rc2, with the same results. the driver gets loaded, but gives a lot of messages in dmesg:

ALSA device list:
No soundcards found.
cat /proc/asound/cards shows no sound cards detected.
# amixer -> amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device
# alsamixer -> alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device
What can i do to resolve this problem?
