Had my first stab at getting an HDSP + Multiface up and running today. No dice. Here's what I did:
1. Downloaded the latest ALSA sources, libs and utils (1.0.4)
2. Followed the instructions for the HDSP card off the alsa site, configuring and installing as necessary
3. Created the corresponding /etc/rc.modules and .asoundrc files (the latter for my user)
4. Loaded the modules
Things *seem* fine, but when I try alsamixer, I get:
No mixer elems found
Even worse, perhaps, is that I get the following in my syslog:
Apr 20 19:50:08 pawn kernel: PCI: Enabling device 04:00.0 (0080 -> 0082)
Apr 20 19:50:08 pawn kernel: ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/pci/rme9652/hdsp.c:670: Hammerfall-DSP: no Digiface or Multiface connected!
Apr 20 19:50:08 pawn kernel: ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/pci/rme9652/hdsp.c:5061: card initialization pending : waiting for firmware
But the multiface is connected.
And when I try to fire up my trusty snd application, it bombs with:
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1057:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: No such device
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1057:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0c failed: No such device
Segmentation fault
I'm running this on a Sager Notebook NP5680 with Slackware 9.1 with kernel 2.4.22.
Advice / input appreciated.
Thanks,
DT
