I gave up the previous method and downloaded alsa driver from the intel site .
the first method didn't work. i did 'intel8x0......sh -d' Again i went into ./acore/memory_wrapper.c &sgbuf.c searched for pte_offset and replaced with pte_offset_map then followed the steps which is specified overthere. i run alsamixer also. now all the snd modules are loaded but i could n't get the sound. Kindly help me asp the OS- redhat 2.1 the driver - intel8x0

Try 1.0.4.
