I'm having trouble to find the correct module for this card in my new laptop. First of all, I'm not sure what kind of onboard soundcard it's using. lspci -vv gives:
00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 4341 Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company: Unknown device 006b Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV+ VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz+ UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=slow >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 64 (500ns min), Cache Line Size: 0x08 (32 bytes) Interrupt: pin B routed to IRQ 5 Region 0: Memory at e8003000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256] After searching HP's site all I found was an updated windows driver, named "ADI 1981B Audio Driver for NVIDIA Chipset". I tried the intel8x0 module and the vivia82xx. After starting alsa, both modules load but alsa complains it can't restore the mixer settings. alsamixer gives this error: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device. So it seems like I don't have the right module loaded. Is there a module available for a ADI 1981B on a NVIDIA chipset? And are there any other methods to check what kind of soundcard is in this notebook? -- Powered by Debian GNU/Linux ----- End forwarded message ----- -- Powered by Debian GNU/Linux ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
