Hello, I don't have a fix right now, but I am experiencing the same problem. I'm running debian unstable with kernel 2.6.3 and the latest debian alsa-source package. I don't think it has anything to do with kde3.2 or gentoo or anything, but the intel8x0 chipset. I have the same trouble. I've been waiting for some sort of response to my problem for a while...
