Well, I dunno if this is right, but . . .whenever I see errors
like that with *any* modules, ALSA or not, I think "kernel
mismatch."  In other words, the modules were built against a
kernel different from the one that's running.

Where did you get the kernel you're running?  Did you build it
yourself from kernel sources in Redhat 9.0, or is it Redhat 9.0's
stock kernel?  And what about your ALSA modules?  Did you compile
them yourself?  Or did you get them already compiled and
ready-to-use from the Redhat disc/RPM website/whatever?
