sox -r 44100 -c 4 -t raw -s -w  /boot/vmlinux -c 4 -r 44100 test.wav
should do it. Mind you this will be a noise file (ie large amplitude
pure noise) but it should give a clue as to whether the four channels
are operating.
See man sox for the large variety of options including duplicating
tracks to make a multitrack output,etc.
