Forgive me for asking again, but I received no response to the message below, and I don't know how to proceed. Should not the installation scripts have written the essetial configuration files?

demudi-1.1.0 on Intel D845PEBT2 motherboard with on-board sound:

The mixer is NOT muted, and all the pots are open. An audio source is plugged into the motherboard INPUT jack, and amplified speakers are plugged into the motherboard LINE OUT jack.

As soon as Debian starts (but not before), the audio source is heard from the speakers, so ALSA is functioning. But when I attempt to play a .wav file (already on the hard drive) using aplay, no sound is heard.

I tried to record the audio source, using arecord. No errors were apparent. But again, when I attempt to play back the resulting audio file, no sound is heard.

I suspect I need to create a configuration file of some type.
