Please could someone shed some light on this for me. I'm running ALSA 0.9.8 with kernel 2.4.22 on a Slackware 9.1 system. I've downloaded a program called Jorgan: this is a Java program which is supposed to take MIDI input from my MIDI keyboard and send MIDI to a synthesiser. I wish to use this with Fluidsynth but I'm having a great deal of difficulty understanding how to get the MIDI to and from the java app.
In the documentation on the Jorgan website, there's this line:

"On Linux the JRE needs ALSA to support MIDI."

I know that my ALSA set-up works because I can use aconnect or ALSA Patch Bay to route MIDI in from my keyboard through other apps and out to Fluidsynth and get sound.

I'm at a complete loss to know what I'm supposed to do to get the JRE to work with ALSA. I have JRE 1.4.1 installed.

Please could anyone help me with this?

TIA for any help!

Gerald.
