Ouch, does not sound like good news! Anyway, there are probably _many_ devices out there (not even usb) that do not meet specs. I guess most of the time we don't notice because the kernel works around the problem (although every once in a while I seem to remember kernel gurus grumbling about this or that broken device). I think alsa does that as well with "quirks" (exceptions?) for usb audio devices... Probably up to the usb guys, whether they prefer to be flexible and work around "broken" (or problematic) hardware, or take a "purist" approach of saying "this is not our problem, your hardware is broken". Obviously I would prefer the first (if it is possible), the second ignores that the hardware world is not perfect :-) -- Fernando ------------------------------------------------------- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
