Ouch, does not sound like good news!

Anyway, there are probably _many_ devices out there (not even usb) that
do not meet specs. I guess most of the time we don't notice because the
kernel works around the problem (although every once in a while I seem
to remember kernel gurus grumbling about this or that broken device). I
think alsa does that as well with "quirks" (exceptions?) for usb audio
devices...

Probably up to the usb guys, whether they prefer to be flexible and work
around "broken" (or problematic) hardware, or take a "purist" approach
of saying "this is not our problem, your hardware is broken". Obviously
I would prefer the first (if it is possible), the second ignores that
the hardware world is not perfect :-)
