[Alsa-user] emu10k1 (audigy 2) midi doesn't work?

I've tried getting midi to work with my audigy 2, and I've got a few 
stumbling blocks that I've hit.

I have snd_seq_oss etc loaded, and /dev/sequencer and /dev/music are there.

However, sfxload says no awe synthesizer sound, and playmidi says no 
output device found

any clues?
