Hello there,

first of all please keep in mind I am a newbie to Linux.(since a few days)

I have a problem with the soundcards digital input

I` m using SuseLinux 8.1, with alsa-driver v0.9.0rc3

Configurating of the Soundcard itself wasn` t any problem, yast2 was doing
this.
But there wasn`t any sound from digital input.

Then i tried as root the alsaconf and then later played with the lot of
input-faders
Then I found out I have to use the IEC958.
After this there was capture of digital input and playback available in the
mixergui as well in gamix and it worked fine!
But after reboot now there is still everything available, but I can`t adjust
the digital input and I don`t hear any sound from digital input anymore. If
I try to move the fader, they don`t want....
I searched for this in the alsa-user forum and read about sndstat.
After a lot of searching I found it:

Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v0.9.0rc3 emulation code)
Kernel: Linux linux 2.4.19-4GB #1 Fri Sep 13 13:14:56 UTC 2002 i686
Config options: 0

Installed drivers:
Type 10: ALSA emulation

Card config:
Yamaha DS-XG PCI (YMF744) at 0xce914000, irq 10

Audio devices:
0: YMFPCI (DUPLEX)

Synth devices:
0: OPL3 FM synth

Midi devices:
0: MPU-401 (UART)

Timers:
7: system timer

Mixers:
0: SigmaTel STAC9708/11

I don`t if that means something to someone, but maybe it helps to solve my
problem.

thanks for listening
mixaha
