I'm in the process of trying to get ALSA up and running on an RH9 machine. I haven't had much luck so far. The module won't load and complains about symbols not being there, which is strange since I built it against the kernel that's running on the machine. Before I expend anymore effort into this, I want to know if what I want ALSA for is even possible.
I'm going to be running multiple real-time sound encoders on the machine (it has the horsepower), and I want to use one sound card for both. That way, when I upgrade the sound card to something _really_ nifty, I don't have to buy two sound cards, just one. The encoders (Helix, from real, and darkice (for ogg encoding)), support OSS/Free style devices. So, is there a way to fork the input stream and make two virtual OSS/Free devices under ALSA? Moderate reading of the documentation and WIKIs didn't yeild much. Thanks in advance. -- Jason M.
