I have read somewhere that the ALSA usb (snd-usb-audio) driver should work with all USB soundcards. I have an M-Audio Transit USB soundcard, and clearly I do not know how to get it to run. I have the snd-usb-audio sound driver loaded, together witht eh various oss emulation modules. But the sound card is apparently not seen at all by the system. /proc/asound/cards says no audio card present, and none of the oss emulation files are present (/dev/dsp, /dev/mixer for example).
What am I doing wrong. I have the following lines in /etc/modules.conf probeall usb-interface usb-uhci alias char-major-116 snd alias char-major-14 sndcore options snd major=116 cards_limit=4 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss alias snd-0 snd-usb-audio alias sound-slot-0 snd-0 above snd-usb-audio snd-pcm-oss options snd-usb-audio vid=0x0763 pid=0x2806 enable=1 -- William G.
