As suggeted by the WIKI page on the VIA8233 driver, I am reporting this information,
for the ASUS A7V600 Motherboard. I was confused as to which driver to use, as the
term AC'97 seems to be a nonsense designation of a protocol or standard. Anyway, I
finally found out about this driver, and it works as
modprobe snd-via82xx dxs_support=4
Here is the output from lspci -v :

I am not doing anything more complicated than playing mp3s or realplayer.
