I just installed Mandrake 9.2 a few moments ago...sound is foobar!
Symptoms. After installing 9.2 I rebooted, and re-installed my software and documents from CD-R. I ran a few programs to see if they would work and nothing made any sound. I checked the volume in aumix, which was at 50%, but when I slid it higher I get a loud sine-wave tone which changes pitch (gets deeper) as the volume rises. Xine gives the following error.

...this all looks the same as my setup in Mandrake 9.1, but with the obvious difference of no sound except the tone that changes with the volume slider. I ran alsaconf, but nothing is fixed after that either...
Any ideas what is causing this?
