I've just installed kernel 2.6.0 on my Debian Woody box, and have noticed that with the version of ALSA that comes with the 2.6.x kernel sources, there is only one playback stream with the VideoLogic SonicFury soundcard using the cs46xx module.
Under kernel 2.4.x, using both ALSA 0.9.6 and 0.9.8, I was able to have 31 playback streams. Seems like a bit of a step backwards for the number of streams to be decreased on the shiny new 2.6.x kernel. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this might be? I've included the cards, pcm, and version files from the /proc/asound directory of each kernel Regards, Matt Kernel 2.4.22 + ALSA 0.9.6 /proc/asound/cards 0 [CS46xx ]: CS46xx - Sound Fusion CS46xx Sound Fusion CS46xx at 0xe5000000/0xe4800000, irq 5 /proc/asound/pcm 00-00: CS46xx : CS46xx : playback 31 : capture 1 00-01: CS46xx - Rear : CS46xx - Rear : playback 31 00-02: CS46xx - IEC958 : CS46xx - IEC958 : playback 1 00-03: CS46xx - Center LFE : CS46xx - Center LFE : playback 31 /proc/asound/version Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 0.9.6.
